The average estimated funding level — or coverage ratio — of Dutch pension funds stood at 109% at the end of October, according to figures from the Netherlands› central bank, De Nederlandsche Bank, Amsterdam. In comparison, the average pension fund reported a hefty 144% funding ratio at year-end 2007. The DNB requires that pension funds submit a 15-year recovery plan if the funding ratio drops below 125% and a three-year plan when the solvency level sinks below 105%.
