UK pension schemes prepare for inflation

There was much discussion of the inflation outlook at the recent conference held by the National Association of Pension Funds. The threat of high inflation concerns trustees of UK defined benefit pension funds for a cardinal reason. They are bound by law to increase pensions in payment, and deferred pensions, in line with inflation, although the liability is often capped. So, when inflation jumps, so do pension fund outgoings.
